Where Do We Begin?

Imam Suhaib Webb’s lecture at Kumpulan Karangkraf, Shah Alam, Malaysia on the 5th October 2011.

In this lecture, Imam Suhaib discusses three main questions pertaining to the question “Where do we begin?” Where do we begin with Allah (swt)? Where do we begin with the Prophet Muhammad? Where do we begin with Islam itself?

At around 56:00, Imam mentions a Maliki jurist in West Africa and discusses his vision in medicine and his foresight to treat poorer people with music. What was this jurist’s name?

salam alikom brother, i’m send thanking you for you, for being you, for sending us some islam by a very nice and smooth way.

I like this speech. Suhaib webb preaches with his heart. That’s the reason I like his website and stuff. I have tried listening to so many shaykhs. Only 3 or 4 of them touch me like a human should, who speak out of sincerity. Otherwise most of the religious people I meet just make me feel like a big worthless loser in this world. May God bless suhaib webb and all good human beings. Amen

  4. Karina says:

I am a bit disappointed that I have not seen the questions raised above not addressed after almost a year.
I enjoy Suhaibwebb and feel always inspired by what I read or watch on this site.
    Keep up the good work.

I also had to stop listening to the video not because it was not interesting but rather because of the children noise in the background. I do not understand why people bring their children to events that are geared towards adults.
We have the same problem here in Edmonton. A friend of mine stopped going to the halaqa held at a local mosque because of the children running around which made it difficult for her to listen. I was planning on going to them as I heard the lady leading them was doing a good job but when I was told about the children running around I didn’t bother.
We are losing people as a result of parents not tending to their children and this is unfortunate.
