I attended a talk by George Galloway yesterday- he and Yvonne Ridley are organising a convoy to Palestine, leaving for Gaza on 14th February and taking with them trucks of aid, medicine, blankets, food, money etc for the people of Gaza.

They will pass through Europe, North Africa and the Middle East, entering Gaza through Rafah in Egypt inshAllah.

Tonight we are demonstrating outside the BBC, manchester- the demo has been there since 27th Dec alhamdulillah- each evening for 1 hour outside the BBC- which is conviniently located near the 2 main universities and central manchester town centre, so theres a lot of car and people traffic.

Tonight the demonstration will display a huge screen outside the BBC, playing the Gaza Aid Appeal alahmdulillah.

May Allah reward out efforts, answer our duas and free the peolpe of Palestine.

    Viva Viva Palestina!

    Fi amanillah

  6. JB says:

Btw, Mustafa Barghouti, a Palestinian doctor was saying how none of the crossings have been open. Just because the bombing has stopped, doesn’t mean the people are in a much better condition. We need to apply pressure for them to open the crossings!!!

  7. **** says:

Haq – couldn’t agree with you more.
UK Resident – may Allah reward your efforts.

In an odd way, the BBC has actually done the cause a huge favour. Alot of non-muslims just cannot believe that the BBC has done this. It has opened their eyes to just how ‘impartial’ the BBC is.

  8. ConvertOf2Years says:

mashaAllah, someone unafraid to speak out amidst all the rampant propaganda, lies and corruption….

  9. UK Resident says:

    May Allah guide Tony Benn

Alhamdulillah we were able to peacefully enter the BBC building yesterday- they have said that they will meet with the demonstrators today inshAllah so i hope that we will have some good news. But its doubtful that they will acknowledge that they are wrong- khayr inshAllah.

As you have said **** I agree that BBC have infact brought greater attention to the situation in Gaza. Yesterday a lot of passerbys stopped, car drivers showed support and people on buses were all watching. The Gaza Aid Appeal was played outside the BBC on a screen.

There has been a large number of non-muslims at the demonstrations i have been to, so alhamdulillah people are showing interest and support.

We were supposed to meet David Milliband (foreign secretary) last week but he cancelled at the last minute, so inshAllah i hope that a replacement meeting can be arranged. I have sent many letters to him and to my local MP and I get so frustrated with their replies- they are so vague and don’t really say anything important, or anything that i didn’t know already!

Also, I don’t understand- why can’t Hamas have weapons???? They are the elected Government of Palestine! Every other country in the world is allowed weapons. While the media is focussed on the home-made short range rockets that Hamas make- the zionists are rearming themself with ballistic weapons. They locked all the borders, caging all the palestinians like chickens and then dropped flyers to say they are going to bomb them!!!

I was told yesterday by another demonstrator, whose over 60 years old that we should not call Israel ‘Israel’- rather we should call it ‘The Occupied Land’ because he was saying that decades ago, thats what the muslims used to call it- Palestine is the whole of that are- Gaza, West Bank and the occupied lands. As Israel is an illegitimate state we should not recognise it. He was worried that no-one in our generation refers to it as ‘The Occupied Land’ and that maybe the next generation will come to accept that Palestine is just West Bank and Gaza. what are your thoughts?

May Allah bring victory to the oppressed everywhere.

    Fi amanillah

Muslim or Non Muslim…. this is an example of a person who knows what is Right & Wrong

This is what the people in Gaza want to you to see…is it Right or Wrong

    Assalamualaikum,
UK Resident – I had heard about this David Milliband meeting being cancelled. Its really typical. What more could we have expected from them? Apparently the exact same thing happened in Rochdale too.

However, don’t give up on the letters. Keep bombarding them until you do get that answer or at least have another meeting arranged with him. You don’t want to come across as though you’ve given up on the first hurdle!!

    Ameen to your dua.

    Assalamu alaikum

just thought i’d update you on what happened with the BBC. the managers said that they can pass on our complaints to the executives in london, but the team in manchester cannot do very much. apparently, the video of the BBC occupation is on you tube already (but i have not seen it yet)

tonight is the last vigil, there will also be demonstrations this weekend inshAllah. i will continue my letter writing the the government inshAllah, as you said, we can’t give up. We need to keep Palestine on the agenda

As well as Palestine, there are also problems in Iraq, Zimbabwe, Somalia etc- lets not forget to do dua for them and lobby our governmenys about these too.

I read on aljazeera english that Obama said that Israel has the right to defend itself from attack. Israel has this attacked UN base in Gaza and injured children. I will reserve my judgement on Obama- but for now, i am not optimistic that he is any better than Bush, when it comes to the issue of Palestine- i only hope that he proves me wrong. This strenghens my belief that this Ummah needs to wake up- we need to rid the muslim world of our oppressive leaders. Venezuela were able to topple their leader and instil Chavez- what is holding us back???

On a serious note shayk- can the shayks in Egypt for example all come together and call for people to refuse its government- Mubarak can’t kill everybody! Iran did this- the oppressive shah was toppled with a fatwa. the oppressive shah ordered people to stay in their houses after a curfew, and the shayk ordered that it is haram for people to stay in their houses after the curfew, the government could not control everybody and were then overthrown. I’m not a shia, but maybe we can learn from this.

We see all this suffering in the world, all these muslims not being able to practice the deen, such as in tunis- how far are we going to let it go before we say enough! what kind of world are we leaving for our children?

Yesterday Alhamdulillah the Turkish Prime Minister left the world economic forum because of shimon perez and said to perez before he left something like “you know how to kill”. perez said to everyone (in trying to get sympathy) that israel is only 60 years old and have had to fight 7 wars and 2 intifadas!!!!?!! what is this man on!!!

one interesting point that came out on Galloways speech is that we should ask our governments whether they knew about the Gaza attack. it took the UK government 3 days to say anything. Channel 4 reporter John Snow (may Allah guide) said he was shocked at how well israel planned it, as if they had planned it for a while. they plan and they scheme, but Allah is the best of planners.

We need to write Palestine back on the map!

    Allah knows best

    fi amanillah

    Salam,

UK Resident, may Allah bless you and all the people out their for your efforts.
One thing about the US that I have noticed is the fact that the general public is plagues with a very short term memory. “Israel has the right to defend itself against rocket attacks”, but these attacks were not sparked overnight by a vicious militia that is trying to threaten Israel’s security but that it was the culmination of the past 60 years and the provoking and harassment by Israel that goes unmentioned. Trying to speak to people about the atrocities of 48 and the displacement of Palestinian people is out of the question because it is so far in the distant memory that, in their minds now, it has no relevance. I agree with you, we must always keep Palestine on the forefront of everyone’s mind.
Governments cannot hide an uproar of a nation, but the nation must become aware of its weakness and be proactive. There is a saying in Arabic الحيط الحيط و يا رب الستر which loosely translates to “don’t ruffle any feathers (it literally says:the wall, the wall and God I ask you for protection, meaning live close to the shadow and protection of an erect structure and not venture away or else you lose that protection”) and this saying dictates the mind of the average Arab because of fear of losing a job, being jailed, torture fear tools that were the product of the colonialism era.
Fear none but Allah and nothing will stop you. Easy to say, very hard for a lot to live by.
