Asalamu alaykum,

May Allah reward Imam Zaid for this. Irregardless of MJ'sIslam, Imam Zaid's commentary on fatherhood and environment were crucial. In an age where Huka bars are filled with young Muslims, drinking and drugs are running rampant in the Middle East and the call for orientation is reaching a deafening pitch, Imam Zaid's points were right on time. I hold Imam Zaid as one of the senior leaders in our community. I love him dearly and I'm always happy when I see he has written something new. Awesome job at keeping things relevant. George Benson! Man, I though I was old school?

Suhaib

To Allah we belong and to Allah we Return. Great reflection on Michaels legacy, thank you Imam Zaid. I think a lot of muslims were confused and didn't know if Michael really did embrace Islam or not. The media is on a 24 hour blitz of nonstop Michael songs, stories, people dancing and going crazy for him and I'm thinking to myself, the biggest "achievement" this guy had in his life came shortly before his death. The troubled man was given hidaya and was guided by Allah (swt) after an extremely troubled life and he accepted Islam as his faith as his final action. SubhanAllah, just goes to show you how Allah (swt) mercy and guidance extends to anyone, anywhere. The media is making absolutely no mention of his reversion to Islam. I think all of us Muslims when asked how we would remember Michael would answer with him being guided to Islam and dying soon after as a believer. One hadeeth comes to my mind, when our Prophet (saw) says it's all about the end. I hope Jermain Jackson takes charge here and gives his brother a proper Muslim burial so all rumors can be laid to rest and the world and media who will be present will witness a man who they "worshiped" "mocked" "ridiculed" and "loved" being put inside his resting place according to the sunnah of Prophet (saw) May Allah (swt) accept from our good deeds, help us who are struggling with unlawful music addiction, and may He continue to guide those who sincerely are seeking the truth.
