AsSalaamu Alaikum,

By the way, Imam Suhaib, what do you think? am I going in the right direction of my studies of Islam in regards to the above post?

I have taken Al Maghrib classes and have found them beneficial Alhamdulillah. Truly though, with so much that I'm learning, I really want to implement what I'm certain about and be consistent with that without getting confused. Should I be searching for Hadith that are in accordance with the verses I am studying as well?

AsSalaamu Alaikum,
JazakAllahu Khairun!!! These posts are very beneficial. I travel a lot so I'm not able to focus in on my home community. I have had discourses with many brothers about the subject of Hadith and Qur'an. Some brothers say they don't trust the Hadith due to it's chain of narration and the times of which hadith were collected, conspiracy theorists, and then there are some brothers that focus majority on Hadith or put it up with the same rank as the Qur'an. Allah is sufficient for us as a Disposer of our Affairs. I trust the Qur'an as the word of Allah and don't put any other book before or on the level with that, however, as stated in this article the Qur'an in many places say Obey the Messenger (May Peace and Blessings be upon Him) and also that in him (S.A.W.) is the best example. For me I would rather follow the example of the Messenger of Allah (S.A.W.) than follow some of my own other people's inclinations, He (S.A.W.) was truly rightly guided.
Unfortunately there is so much information floating around about the deen but I find one can get very confused in studying and must be very careful from whom we get information from. Actually since Eid, it's been a bit stressful. I've decided to sit back and study Qur'an more further, seeking to understand what Sheikh Suhaib said in one of his lectures that I play back on my Iphone a lot, the Nuss of the Qur'an. What is clear and try to implement that in my life. I have a complete set of Sahih Bukhari published by DarusSalam publishers & distributors translated by Dr. Muhammad Muhsin Khan, but after Ramadan I've decided to first seek an understanding of the Qur'an by going over the Arabic and the different english translations. I've decided to take notes on what I study and when I get the chance inshaAllah find a knowledgeable Sheikh or Imam and discuss with him what I found to get some more understanding inshaAllah. I am very weary about studying because I've found many brothers who give tafsir of the Qur'an and I'm like SubhanAllah, I see your proofs but how you get that from that? I take it into consideration and bear witness I believe in the whole of the Qur'an and that the truth is with Allah. I fear getting in disputes after knowledge has come, so I keep my mouth shut, smile and go back to the book and to the musallah to refer it to Allah. I've grown up watching so many people teach what they don't do in regards to deen that I'd rather just be it. Why shoot the breeze about it, when you can be about it? In addition, I've made mistakes of speaking too soon and then learning better. I'd rather not speak until I am certain and I would rather my actions speak louder than my words. Alhamdulillah. I'm ranting. JazakAllahu Khairun for the posts and for allowing comments.

AlhamdulilAllah. Jazakum Allah khairan ya Imam. I probably wouldn't qualify to be even a student at Al Azhar, but alhamdulilAllah, Allah (swt) has blessed me with amazing teachers.

For those who have are comfortable reading Arabic, I would recommend going back to the original source (referenced in Part I) as it is full of gems. It is one of the introductory 'Ilm al-Hadith texts taught in Syria.

Also, jazakum Allah khairan to the WebbStaff team for editing and reposting. May Allah (swt) reward them for any benefit that comes out of this series.
