Jobs for Western Students of Knowledge in Kuwait

The Islam Presentation Committee is one of the largest comprehensive fully active Da’wa centers in the Middle East. For the last few years the IPC has been planning to open a fully functioning center to present Islam to its English speaking population which is made up of expatriates who have settled in Kuwait working in the fields of business, education, medicine, and engineering. The other large portion is in the not so easy to reach American military and the easy to reach civilian contractors who work on the bases. The IPC has settled on the name TIES which is an acronym for the Truth of Islam for English Speakers. The idea is that the human race is built upon many common ties and although we may differ on religion we should come to know one another which is the slogan taken from verse 13 of soorah al-Hujurat.

The objectives of TIES:

1.    Proper presentation of the message of Islam to English Speakers
2.    Offering a comprehensive program for the development of new-Muslims
3.    Refuting the campaign of propaganda against Islam
4.    Training Muslims to properly invite others to Islam

The ways and means of TIES:

1.    Written Material- Pamphlets, Booklets, Newspaper Articles, etc…
2.    Audio- Cd’s, Radio Cameo’s
3.    Video- Documentaries, Instructional (Wudoo’, Salah), Ch. 2 Kuwait
4.    Internet- ties-kw.com (coming soon), www.thelastingmiracle.com, Hopefully a website dealing with the refutation of misconceptions, Get a team of sisters to make a website about women
5.    Field Work-  Sending Da’ees to malls, businesses, military bases or other areas where English speakers gather
6.    Offering regular classes and study circles

The jobs needed are as follows:

1.    Manager- Must be a multi-tasker who is fluent in English and Arabic with a comprehensive knowledge/understanding of Islam. Supervises and directs all employees and their projects. Keeps regular contact with all employees giving them advice pushing them to excel.
2.    Public Relations- Must be fluent in English and preferably decent knowledge of Arabic. Must have a delightful impressionable personality, Responsible for making connections with all places we will make Da’wa i.e. finding the places where English speakers gather or reside and making connections with those facilities/institutions or getting us a spot in the newspaper, raido, tv etc…
3.    Da’ee Trainer- Must be fluent in English and Arabic. Must have a balanced comprehensive understanding of Islam. Will be responsible for writing Da’wa material. Frequenting the malls, apartment buildings, military bases and other places actually approaching non-Muslims and calling them to Islam. Also responsible for following up with and Tarbiyyah of new-Muslims.

The salary will be sufficient for a decent American style living in a nice central AC apartment which could house a husband and wife and two kids comfortably with the ability to immediately buy a nice used car to get around with.

Kuwait is a free country that is very open to Da’wa and for the students of knowledge there are diverse seasonal lessons between Magharib and Isha sponsored by the ministry of Awqaaf teaching well-known books on Aqeedah, Nahw, Sarf, Fiqh, Tafseer, Hadith etc… In addition to that there are many scholars who are very accessible Imams of masjids and they give regular lessons and some accept people like you for more personal lessons. There is also a night school for Dar al-Qur’an which is a government recognized Islamic Institution.
