Shari'ah is balanced and moderate, no doubt, but are we be balanced and moderate when we dine in or out?
-AbdelRahman Murphy 7:13PM

P.S. I would enjoy seeing the post Abdul has requested, it would be very useful in trying to grasp the concept, insha Allah.

Assalamu Alaikum,

Imam Suhaib, can you post something which explains the arguments that some scholars make that the doors of ijtihaad are closed and why they say this - and then the positions which the rest of the scholars have that ijtihaad is open?

This is a fiery term sometimes because sadly, its use has come to be equated with liberalism/modernism (perhaps because of its misuse by those groups) in the eyes of many who follow the scholars who follow a closed-door ijtihad policy.

jazakAllah khair
