here is the Quranic dua to ask Allah swt to keep us firm on his deen.

(3:8)They say): "Our Lord! Let not our hearts deviate (from the truth) after You have guided us, and grant us mercy from You. Truly, You are the Bestower."

Prophet (pbuh) would recite that ayah and then say

'Ya Muqalibaul Qalook, Thabit Qalbi Ala Deenik' (oh turner of the heart, keep my heart firm on the deen)

Asslam Alikum Warehmatullah,

Jazakallah Khairun for sharing the story with us however i would like to remind everyone here (myself first) that we always have a tendency to JUSTIFY the wrong actions we do ('so what if i dont wear hijab @least im not backbiting like her'....'so wht if i dont wear hijab @least im praying'...I guess i am trying to say that its very easy to point a finger @ others and criticize them however we main concern should be our sins, our state of the heart and our relationship with our Rabb!!!

Dear friend,

Thank you for sharing your life with us. It is an universal experience you speak of. All have felt the need to know why we do what we do, ie, wear the hijab or prayer and fasting, and when we are asking those questions many judges come to surround us. I am so sorry for the hurt you must have experienced when some would draw conclusions about you based on your outward appearance and not on the condition of your heart. The truth is, every heart is hiding some sin in it. No one is without it. So we should not judge unless we know the heart of a person.

Do you know where your forgiveness comes from? Do you know that God has forgiven you? If the intent of your heart and character was always to serve God and you never wore the hijab again, would this be acceptable to God? The book of Psalms tells us: "You (God) do not delight in sacrifice or I would bring it...the sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise." 51:16, 17 The writer of the Psalm is asking: "Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me." 51:10 He knows that "Cleanse me with hyssop, and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow." 51:7 Our heart is what is in need of cleansing and the sacrifice is to humble ourselves before Almighty God and he will not despise that.

May you find the depths of your heart cleansed and renewed in God Almighty and from the overflow of your praise of this gift will come a life of righteousness.

Jazakallah sis for sharing your story. I identify with it, though in a different order. We all have our ups and downs, and often more downs than ups. May Allah forgive us for our shortcomings, and keep us on the straight path. Ameen.
