Asalamu alaykum,

Six trained muftis on the phone, four downstairs taking real questions all done in four different languages [Arabic,English, French, and Danish]. It can only be described as the Egyptian House of Fatwa (Dar al-Ifta).

    As-Salamu Alaykum

    Dear Br.Suhaib Webb.

I am a 1 who watches and who listens to your speeches and I feel you are a righteous person.
Allah has put the guidance in front of you and you accepted.
I respect you very much for this.

So as respect I would like to give a you a suggestion of this website you have posted.

I was reading the fatwas concerning many things and there is no evidences concerning many of their fatwas.
Including the way of the sufi or Commemorating the birthday of the Prophet May The Peace & Blessing Be Upon Him.

So, Please I know your an intellectual person…Please take this into consideration…By posting this site on your blog, many people will be mislead by the fatwas of Dar-Al-Ifta.

    Assalamu alaykum,

Br. Abul-Qasim, the fatwa that you are referring to is found here:

    http://www.dar-alifta.org/ViewFatwa.aspx?ID=5534&LangID=2

After reading the fatwa, I believe it is incorrect on your part to say that “there is no evidences.” Indeed the fatwa shows not one but many evidences. If someone is not satisfied or convinced by their evidences, that’s a different issue. But to say that their fatwa are not backed up by evidences is incorrect.

    Wassalam.

Abul Qasim’s response is reflective of the utter intolerance exhibited by those who follow the neo salafi school. No scholar denounced Sufism in its totality save a few. Sheikh al-Islam Ibn Taymmiyah even stated about the sufis who combined fiqh and tasawuf as “The best worshippers” [see Majm'u al-Fatawa vol. on Suluk and Tasawuf risalah al-Fuqara]

Abu Qasim needs to relax, study, gain maturity and move beyond group politics.
