I want to point out to Brother Douglas and so many other brothers that many wonderful women look for more important things in a husband than wealth. Always first is deen. Understanding, emotional support, affection, patience, intelligence, wanting the best for your partner and helping her achieve it, good family relations, teamwork, a will to rear children with deen and love and intelligence -- all these and more non-material things are important to many women and to a good partnership. Many, many poor men all over the world are in good marriages, and this is not the first that that is true! (Better-trained Muslims than I can recall examples from Muslim history insha'allah.) Similarly, you must look beyond the surface for a good wife. There is no greater beauty than deen, and no greater ugliness than a love of the superficial in this world (and that includes the alleged "need" for five houses, trips to the Bahamas, designer clothes, plastic surgery, etc.).
