I would like to ask Sheikh Suhaib to encourage this and all of the readers to do the following.

I think that we can get the Palestinian humanitarian crisis if we all send Oprah Winfrey emails with photos of Israeli aggression, especially towards women and children. We need at least 20,000 to 50,000 emails to be sent. Why do I believe this is effective?

1) Oprah Winfrey is a program that people around the world watch her program.
2) She is a very fair and just person.
3) She has worked for humanitarian causes in Africa and she has talked about it on her show.
4) She has brought to light discrimination against Muslims several weeks back on her show.
5) She has brought Queen Rania of Jordan on her show before.

I truly believe if we are able to get over 20,000 emails out to her show from people worldwide, with pictures showing the suffering of the Palestinians, that we can bring this to the spotlight and more people will know the truth. I personally plan on emailing her very soon Insha ALLAH.

What is happening in Gaza is devastating. I think what Muslims have to ask themselves is, what is my role in all of this? Every time there is an attack led by Israel, you will find the same reaction from Muslims. We start complaining and saying how bad the Israeli army is, Imams constantly make kunut and stating that victory eventually will prevail for the Muslims, people trying to gather donations, Muslims start crying. This then leads to us getting used to seeing what is happening and we cool off after a couple of weeks. The question is still not answered, what is my role?

It is very naive for us to expect Obama to change US policy overnight, simply because I personally believe he believes Israel is protecting itself. But if we look at how we responded to Obama's silence, we are in total shock for some reason that he hasn't done anything. I took a look at a list of organizations that were participating in a protest, from 80 to 90 percent are either Arab or Muslim organizations, the rest are American. We are not relevant to society. We think that if we state for 2 weeks that Israel killed children that it will be more effective than Israel propagating over the years the fact that it is "a victim" and that it is defending itself from the so called Palestinian aggression, whatever that means.

Enough with all the complaining. We should wake up and think like the rest of the people in this country, then and only then will we start being relevant. On the news the other night they were reporting a Harlem church praying for Israel. An African American dominated church is praying for Israel? Why is this? It is all about relevance.

Indeed, it is always the innocent civilians (especially the children) who suffer the most in these unnecessary attacks. What is really sad, is that Israeli military forces have been given the green light to continue as they please. Since, not one nation or international community is actively intervening in Gaza. This needs to stop! May Allah (swt) forgive those who have died in Gaza and may He have mercy on their souls.
