ARABIC 1A: BASIC READING AND WRITING

This course offers an easy and straightforward introduction to the very basics of the Arabic language. As the first year of Zaytuna’s three–year Arabic curriculum, Arabic 1 aims to equip the student with basic conversational skills and the ability to read and write Arabic at a fundamental level. In addition to other texts and supplementary materials, this bi-weekly class will utilize Book #1 of the series Arabic Course for English Speaking Students from Madinah Islamic University.
Prerequisite: No prerequisite required.

ARABIC 2A: GRAMMAR & VOCABULARY

A survey of the fundamental elements of Arabic grammar and general vocabulary essential for the student to attain an elementary comprehension of the Arabic language. Part of Zaytuna’s three–year Arabic curriculum, this course is designed to provide the student with the basic tools necessary to begin reading with understanding the Qur’an and other primary Arabic texts. In addition to other texts and supplementary materials, this bi-weekly class will utilize Book #2 of the series Arabic Course for English Speaking Students from Madinah Islamic University.
Prerequisite: Students must complete Arabic 1D or be able to read and write Arabic at a basic level.

ARABIC 3A: APPLIED GRAMMAR & MORPHOLOGY

A delineation of the more intricate rules of Arabic grammar, morphology, and their application. Part of Zaytuna’s three–year Arabic curriculum, this course is designed to assist the student in establishing a thorough, working knowledge of Arabic grammar and the syntax and structure of the Arabic language. In addition to other texts and supplementary materials, this bi-weekly class will utilize Book #3 of the series Arabic Course for English Speaking Students from Madinah Islamic University.
Prerequisite: Students must complete Arabic 2D or have successfully completed a previous course in Arabic grammar and must be able to comprehend the all-Arabic text.
