That was an isolated incident by two volunteers - this is NOT the policy of Obama’s campaign. The campaign has since apologized to those two sisters - and in fact Barack Hussain Obama has PERSONALLY called the two sisters and spoken to them and apologized. The two sisters since accepted the apology and have written statements that they still do support Barack Obama!

The two women issued the following joint statement:
At the rally for Senator Obama in Detroit on Monday, June 16, two volunteers denied us seating behind the stage the Senator would soon take. The volunteers informed us that we were not allowed to sit in that area due to the hijab, the headscarf that each of us was wearing.
This incident was unfortunate and extremely disappointing. Senator Obama has called us each to personally convey his deepest apologies and acknowledge that this was inexcusable. We both immensely appreciate the Senator’s phone call and his commitment to remedy this issue. We commend him for displaying qualities befitting an effective President. We acknowledge that this injustice has been taken seriously and that Senator Obama does not tolerate discrimination against Arabs, Muslims or any community. We are assured that he and his staff are committed to upholding the principles of justice for all peoples and bringing about change we can believe in. The infringement on our rights occurred and has been addressed; now we are ready to move forward. We will continue to support Senator Obama in his campaign and wish him the best as the race continues.
Then, Senator Obama issued a statement I found pretty refreshing:
I reached out to Ms. Aref and Ms. Abdelfadeel this afternoon. I spoke with Ms. Abdelfadeel, and expressed my deepest apologies for the incident that occurred with volunteers at the event in Detroit. The actions of these volunteers were unacceptable and in no way reflect any policy of my campaign. I take deepest offense to and will continue to fight against discrimination against people of any religious group or background. Our campaign is about bringing people together, and I’m grateful that Ms. Abdelfadeel accepted our apology and I hope Ms. Aref and any who were offended accept my apology as well.
Hopefully, this should put people’s concenrs to rest.
I don’t think Obama is any different from on foreign policy, his stance at AIPAC proved to me that he will not change much outside of America. Will he take pictures with Hijabi’s? Let us wait and see, an apology is VERY easy to make these days - everyoine does it to get off the hook. America is not run by the president, but by the institution that controls it. Its policies will not change much to benefit the Muslims of the world, even if things change for the better internally (the only good thing I can expect from Obama).
He wants to give the WHOLE of Jerusalem to Israel (very bold move) and billions of dollars - I am sorry, anyone who says this - even to please AIPAC, is surely not going to be kind to Muslims.
He isn’t Muslim and we shouldn’t expect him to be - we should expect him to be fair - as a human being, as a christian and as an american. Fat chance of that happening I say.
I urge other sisters/Muslims to try and go stand in photo ops and take pics with Obama - and lets test this man.
He isn’t and was never a Muslim. Yes it is known that all children are considered Muslim theologically and that Fiqh-wise the children follow the Deen of their father until puberty. The most important thing in this is looking at who raised him from as early as 5 and where was he raised. The answer is by a non-Muslim mother and in a non-Muslim country. He is smart for dissassociating himself with Islam even if he does respect it. I beleive this man wants good for America, but was dealt a very tough hand of political cards and he has survived this far with pure genius and sincerity. He has earned my vote because I am aware of US politics and feel that I have been blessed by Allah to read people’s bluffs. I think he wants good for America and is much better than McCain or any other green party/independant.
Nahsabuhu kathalik wa laa nuzakkee ala Allahi ahad.
it would have been courteous for obama to have said that a person’s faith should not be an issue in trying to do public good, instead he called the pesy rumours of his being muslim as a smear campaign. obama sounded like being accused of a closet muslim is somehow sinister. he has not appeared in a single mosque or met any muslim group while he has not turned down any offer to talk from a synagogue or church. obama might have won the heart and mind of the downtrodden, but so had colin powell, next to the status of mother teresa, until he allowed himself to lie for an administration. with mccain campaign rattling for 100 years of occupation of muslim lands, american muslims can’t sit it out on the curb, and obama campaign knows it, like it or not, mr. obama can gleefully ignore us.
