The following incident is mentioned in the book al-Intisar fi al-Masail al-Kibar of Mahfudh bin Ahmad al-Kalwadhani the leader of the Hanbali school of his day and quoted by al-Sheikh Abdul Fattah Abu Ghuda in Risalah al-Mustarshidin pg. 131:

Allah ta’ala says in the Qur’an:

The Question:
During the month of Ramadan I continually heard the verses “A few days” in Surah al-Baqarah. After looking at the Arabic I noticed that the word for days, “Ayaaman” ends with a fataha which would make it mansub. Why?
