Friday, September 5th, 2008I’m Calling Out the Entire Bay to Represent! Tomorrow Night Qiyam Masjid Nor Santa Clara!
Thursday, September 4th, 2008Asalamu alaykum,
After the amazing time I had with Sh. Usama Cannon at the Hayward Halaqa and the awesome time I had with the brothers and sisters in Masjid Tauhid, I’m calling the Bay out. Who can bring the most people to tomorrow night’s qiyam? Is it going to be Oakland, U.C Berkeley, or is it San Fransisco and San Fransisco State? Is Stanford going to take the lead, or is it the local homies from SJSU? Is it going to be Freemont or Tracy? I’m calling all of you out? Let’s fill the masjid, brothers and sisters and spend an evening devoted to faith and positivity!

Thursday, September 4th, 200820 examples of grammar misuse
Wednesday, September 3rd, 2008Grammar just ain’t what it used to be, it seems. The list was a long one. Here are the best.
1. The one that really annoys me is how people suddenly seem to confuse “have” and “of”, as in: “I could of learnt how to write properly.” There’s no excuse for it!

Towards A Refined Maturity: Etiquettes of Disagreement by Hamza Yusuf & Shaykh Bin Bayyah
Wednesday, September 3rd, 2008One of the greatest problems confronting modern Muslims is our inability to tolerate each other, let alone others. Our tradition has a rich science known as “the courtesies of differences and the etiquette of discussion.” In this edifying talk, The Etiquette of Disagreement, one of the greatest scholars today, Shaykh Abdallah bin Bayyah, illuminates the essential aspects of this subject.
All Muslims who plan to engage in any conversation should listen to this talk over and over again until its meanings are internalized and they understand that the secret of interlocution is a desire to know and not a desire to conquor. Only when we sublimate our egos and have a desire to engage in genuine dialogue with others do we achieve a spiritual status of what the English refer to as “the gentleman” and what the Arabs call al-adib - “the gentle one.” - Hamza Yusuf
