Bediuzzaman Said Nursi The Representative of Contemporary Islamic Thinkers: His Approach to the Questions of Science and Technology: Prof. Adem Tatli
Saturday, June 30th, 2007The search for the truth in societies
Ever since he first appeared on earth, man has shown a close interest in his environment and has tried to understand and discover the laws to which things are subject. The aim of these endeavors has been to establish the way to both worldly and eternal happiness by gaining mastery over the physical world. While doing this, he has either proceeded under the leadership of the reason and in the light of philosophy, or leaving the reason in second place, has acted in accordance with the principles of Revealed Books and Scriptures that are corrupted, or he has taken the Highway of the blending of the reason and the final Revealed Book.
The first group yielded the fruits of the schools of philosophy like the Materialists, Dehriyyun, and Sophists. And among individuals these sowed the seeds of enmity, envy, hatred, and vengeance, and were the cause of great gulfs emerging between the classes of societies; they made humanity live the life of Hell while still in this world.
The second way, in which reason and logic are rejected, drove societies into the valleys of bigotry and misguidance, and made lawful oppression and injustice between individuals.
On third way, the Highway, ease and plenty was promised in this world, and happiness in the next. In this field humanity lived an age like the Age of Bliss.

Forbidden Forms of Dhikr: Shaykh `Abdul Fattah Abu Ghudda
Saturday, June 30th, 2007Forbidden Forms of Dhikr
Shaykh `Abdul Fattah Abu Ghudda
Translated by A. Haque
As for the type of dhikr performed by some people which comprises of rhythmically coordinated movements of the body, melodious hymns and songs, jumping, leaping, hopping, bending forward and then straightening up, and violent twisting and shoving, then this form of dhikr is forbidden, for a sound fitra finds it repugnant, and a heart in khushu` is far removed from the likes of such things. As the noble tabi`i Sa`id ibn al-Musayyab (may Allah be pleased with him) said, âHad the heart of this man been in khushu`, his limbs would be in khushu` as well.â

Bismillah was-salaatu was-salamu âala rasoolillah
I wanted to share with you all a rough translation of a section that I read recently from Sh. Mannaâ al-Qattanâs book on âUloom al-Hadith. The section is very short, but gives a good idea of the differences between the scholars surrounding the issue of acting upon weak hadiths.

Miqat for Pilgrims Traveling by Air: Dr. Atiyyah al-Saqr al-Azhari [may Allah have mercy upon him]
Tuesday, June 26th, 2007Another fatwa illustrating the methodology of the majority of fuqaha alive today.
1. Teaching with dalil [evidences] and t’alil [causes]
2. Not regulated to one school
3. Respect for the aims and goals of the Law [maqasid and the qawa'id]
4. Respect for the views of others
Dr. ‘Atiyyah [may Allah have mercy upon him] died in Cairo a little over a year ago. He was considered one of the greatest living legal giants of this age. He served, for many years, as the head of the Azhar fatwa department. May Allah have mercy upon him, illuminate his grave and bless us to benefit from his life and legacy.

Menghadapi Dugaan Di Musim Panas Sediakan Payung Taqwa: Translated by Umm Adam
Tuesday, June 19th, 2007Menghadapi Dugaan Di Musim Panas Sediakan Payung Taqwa:
Ust. Suhaib Webb
Translated by Umm Adam
Asalamu alaykum,
